A Solid Style

With hard hitting punch lines, intense metaphors, SOLID Lyrics and a wide variety of compelling topics; the entertainment industry is now warming up to the sounds of now twenty (20) year old Altonie Thomas, a past student of Jonathan Grant High School and Jose Marti Technical High.

A Solid Style
Ever since his first recordings, he always had a style and presence that separated him from his peers; it was always quite evident that he had an irresistibly ‘solid’ style. It was this style that influenced his name, Solid. Solid is not an artiste limited by the scopes that music can channel you in. He uses his love for the industry to drive the music that he writes and delivers. His style is not one that is utterly unique in an Industry that sees the likes of creative minds such as Busy Signal, Vybz Kartel amongst others; however he takes it a step further creating a style that is a hybrid of Hip-hop, Dancehall, and Reggae with a hint of Alternative thus making his style bound to be unforgettable.

In building his style he drew his influences from Artistes like Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, and Assassin, who are a few of the artistes that he admires based on the creativity, strength and confidence that they exhibit. As he works at creating his individual style, people have told him that he has similar style influences as that of Busy Signal, though that is indeed a complement, Solid Continues to build his own style and expound on it.

Great Reception
His lyrical prowess has allowed him the favour of quite a few people; it has also helped in him being invited to perform at quite a few events, to name a few Digicel Jamaica’s Anniversary and Christmas Party for 2007 and a few local stage shows in his area (Tredegar Park in Spanish Town). He was always well received by patrons no matter where he performed and that reception continues. The First track that Solid wrote was titled ‘Naa Vote’, this was a track filled with social commentary as it has always been the case that the poorer class of people in our society has always received the bad end the stick when it comes to politics and politicians. Many of his songs speak to these situations and others that people can easily understand and relate to. Its hard for him to find a favorite song, his songs are written with such soul that they are all dear to him. Solid is poised for great things, with his current mind frame set to ‘focused’, 2008 will prove to be a successful year for the entertainer.

Currently he is in the studio with producers putting in the work on his first mixtape/LP.
